C E Little 64, Burns to Death at Tolosa Last Week Funeral rites were conducted at the Kings Cem in the Aley Community Thur afternoon for Cecil Everett Little, 64, who burned to death Wed morning at the home of his sister-in-law, Mrs Tom M Little. Mr Little's charred body was found by Mrs Little and other members of the family when they came home at noon Wed. He had obviously been burning trash, which spread to nearby grass. It is believed that he must have stumbled over a wire fence directly into the flames. The clothing was burned from his body. Lyle Price, minister of the Church of Christ at Kaufman, officiated. Burial was made in Kings Cem. Mr Little was born on 10/23/1884 at Lewisburg, Marshall Co, TN. He moved to Styx in 1901 and operated a community store there for many years. About three weeks before the tragedy which took his life, he sold his store and moved to the home of his sister-in-law, Mrs Tom A Little. He was the son of the late Mr & Mrs John Little, pioneer residents of the Tolosa Community. Surviving are his two brothers, Frank Little of Greenville and J D Little of Gainesville. He was never married. Mr Little had been a member of the Church of Christ at Styx for many years.

Funeral services for Mrs J L Massey, 68, who died Mon at her home, 4226 Cabell Dr will be held at 3 pm Tue at the Foley-Fraser Funeral Home ???? Oak Lawn Ave, the Rev ? A Colley, assisted by the Rev W T Tidwell, officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Mrs J D Little
Mrs Ada Little, 75, wife of J D Little, 503 N Commerce Street, died at 5 pm Friday in a local hospital after an extended illness.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm Sunday at the Era Church of Christ, H A Lynch, minister, officiating. Burial will be in Era cemetery, arrangements by the Geo J Carroll & Son Funeral home.
Born Dec 30, 1874, in Lewisberg, TN, Mrs Little was married there Dec 3, 1892, to J D Little. They came to Cooke Co some 50 yrs ago, lived at Era for 35 yrs, and in Gainesville for 15 yrs. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
Surving are her husband; 5 sons, Robert of Era, Fred, of Palo Alto, CA, Bruce of Oklahoma City, Sewell of Sacrtamento, CA, and Lee of Pauls Valley, OK; one brother, John McCord of Bonham; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.
JOHN HENRY LITTLE - Age 89, of Greenville, died Wednesday at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville. Funeral services are at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel with Rick Henslee officiating. Burial is in Celeste Cemetery.
The son of Frank Little and Clora Struck, he was born Nov. 30, 1908 in Kaufman County. He married Noema Aven on Dec. 30, 1933 in Sulpher Springs. He was a mechanic with ESCO Manufacturing, retired
Mr. Little was a member of Johnson Street Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife of Greenville; a son, Larry Little of Caddo Mills; a daughter, Peggy Carter of Trinidad; three sisters, Odell Cole of Lake Whitney, Callie Balckstone of canton and Hettie Whitfield of Mesquite; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Dale Little, in 1997; four brothers and two sisters
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home

George Anthony Little, 80, died Thurs, Jun 24, at the Biggs-Gridley Memorial Hospital following a long illness. He was born in Grand Prairie, TX, on 9/9/1901. He moved to Gridley in 1943 from ARK. He had been a nurseryman with Little's Nursery in Gridley for the past 26 yrs.
Little was preceded in death by his wife, Willie Ann Little, who died in 1976.
He is survived by 3 sons, Harold C Little and W F Little, both of Gridley, and Jerry L Little of Manteca; 2 daughters, Georgia L Craft of Rockland and Selma O. Johnson of Marysville; 2 half brothers, John Little and Edwin Little, both of Greenville, TX; 4 half-sisters, Hetti Whitchfield [sic - s/b Whitfield], Callie Blackstone, Odell Cole and Naomi Davis, all of TX; 23 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Mon, Jun 28, at 10 am, at the Yuba City Church of Christ, with Bennie Cryer, minister of the church, officiating and under the direction of the Gridley-Block Funeral Chapel. Burial followed at the Gridley-Biggs District Cemetery.

A resident of Greenville, Mr Little died Fri (3/18/1994) at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville.
Born 6/1/1911, in Kaufman Co, he was the son of Frank and Clora Struck Little. On 9/2/1933, he married Fay Norris in Greenville. Mr Little was a retired builder and was an elder and member of Wieland Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Joel Little of Garland; 2 daughters, Linda Bendall of Greenville, and Ann Barwick of Danville (sic - s/b Denville), NJ; one brother, John Little of Greenville; 4 sisters, Hettie Whitfield of Lubbock, Callie Blackstone of Canton, Odell Cole of Whitney, and Naomi Davis of Gunter; 8 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers and one sister.
Visitation will be today from 7 to 8:30 pm at Peters Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Paul Jacobus, Steve Jacobus, Michael Bendall, Ryan Little, Nathan Little, and Brandon Dooley.
William M Little, 78 a retired laborer and resident of Sherman 25
yrs, died suddenly at 9 am Sunday at his home, 904 S Walnut, following a heart attack.
Funeral services are pending the arrival of relatives, but will be conducted by the Rev Claude Johnston, pastor of the North Park Baptist Church. Burial will be in West Hill Cemetery under direction of John C. Daniel Funeral Home.
Little was born June 10, 1867 near Ashville, TN, a son of Mr and Mrs John Little. He and Martha Vincent were married July 7, 1895 at Tom Bean, where they resided until coming to Sherman. He was a member of the Central Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife; 2 sons, Jack Little of Denison and Eugene V Little, with the Navy at Hollister, CA.; 6 daughters, Mrs Obie Evans and Mrs Sam Franklin of Sherman, Mrs Luther Earthman of Denison, Mrs Walter Sizemore of Dallas, Mrs John Melton of Lake Charles, LA, and Mrs C A Burton of Houston; 3 brothers: Jim Little of Gainesville, Frank Little of Whitewright and Cecil Little of East TX; 18 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

William Edgar Little, Kemp resident, died at his home there Saturday night. Funeral services will be held from the First Methodist Church in Kemp at 10:00 AM Monday with the Rev Charles Mehaffey and the Rev Norman Carter officiating. Interment will be in the Kemp Cemetery under the direction of the Anderson Funeral Home.
Mr Little was born in Grand Prairie, TX on 6/25/1894. He later lived in the Styx community of Kaufman Co and for a number of years worked in the oil fields of Pampa and Borger in West TX. He moved to Dallas in 1925 and for the past 18 yrs has been a resident of Kemp where he was employed as Water Superintendent before his retirement.
He was a member of the Christian Church and was a veteran of World War I, serving overseas for several months.
Surviving him are: his wife Mrs Opal Louise Little of Kemp; one daughter Mrs Glen Cain; two grandchildren, Larry Cain and Cindy Cain both of Kemp; one brother, Earl Little of Mesquite; one sister, Mrs Ruth Johnson of Richardson; a number of nieces and nephews; and other relatives.

Willie Ann Little GRIDLEY (E-R) Services will be held at 1 pm Mon at the Church of Christ in Yuba City for Willie Ann Little, 71, of Chandon Ave. She died Wed at a local hospital.
She was b. 5/12/1904 in AR to the late Wade & Sidney Smalling. On 8/7/1920, she m. George A Little in Daisy, AR. The couple moved to the Gridley area in Aug 1943 from Amity, AK
She was a member of the Church of Christ of Yuba City.
She is survived by her husband, George A of the home; 2 daughters, Georgia Lee Craft of Roseville and Selma Johnson of Oroville; 3 sons, Harold Clay and W F both of Gridley, and Jerry Len of Manteca; 2 brothers, Virgil Smalling of Cedar Creek, AR, and Fletcher Smalling of Rio Dell; 23 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Rev Bennie Cryer will officiate. Interment will be in the Gridley-Biggs Cemetery. Visitation is from 9 am-5 pm Fri and Sat and 1-5 and 7-9 Sun.

Thomas M Little of Kemp Succumbs
Thomas M Little of Kemp, Rt 2, died in Terrell Fri and funeral rites were conducted Sun with burial at King Cemetery.
Mr Little was born in TN on 12/27/1873. He came to TX and first located in Dallas, later moving to Aley.
He married Miss Effie Gardner on 5/3/1909. One of their 5 children preceded him in death.
Surviving are his widow; four sons, Ray Little of Styx, Roy Little of California, Lee Little of Paris, and Beryl Little of the US Army; three brothers, Jim of Gainsville, Frank of Greenville, and Cecil of Styx.

Mrs Willie Phillips of Route 5, Kemp, TX died Sun Feb 1 in Kaufman after a long illness. She was born Aug 25, 1889 in the Aley Community, Henderson Co, TX, the daug of Pink and Mrs Ann Gardner Greenhaw, living in the Aley Community all her life and educated in the public schools of Aley. She married Thomas W Phillips Sep 8, 1912. Mr Phillips died Oct 9 1972.
Mrs Phillips was a member of the Aley Methodist Church.
Survivng are two sons: Thurman D Phillips of Route 5, Kemp, TX and Roy Little of Dallas, TX; 3 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; one brother, W A Carriffee of Chandler, Texas and other relatives.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 pm Tues Feb 3, from the Aley Methodist Church, with Rev A H Logan officiating with the internment in the King Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Roy Gene Little, John Little, Kenney Boren, J C Patterson, J T Greenhaw, and J W Gardner.
Anderson-Clayton Bros. Funeral Homes of Kemp was in charge of arrangements.

He preceded her in death in 1964 She had lived in Kemp area for most of her Life and was a member of St Ann Catholic Church. She is survived by a daughter LaFrances Sloan of Kemp; granddaughter, Cindy Leigh Cain of Kemp; 3 brothers, Putman Bateman of Lively, J C Bateman of Gun Barrel City, Mauldin Bateman of Fort Worth; 3 sisters, Golden Leslie of Fort Worth, Inez Baker of Oak Grove and Jewel Anders Of Dallas. Pallbearers included Joe Baker, Neal Sloan, Jack Wilson, Jack Roberts, Waymond Sloan And Dickie Reed.
